I think I want to move out of here by the end of 2009. Yeah, I know, I just moved back a few months ago, but despite how much living in Oneonta sucked, the aspect living on my own was pretty damn sweet. How I’ll scrape up the funds for this, I don’t know, but there’s my goal for the next 18 or so months. I’m for sure going to have another, hopefully higher paying job since Virgin is closing early next year, and that’s if I stick around for that. I think with enough people and the right amount of money, especially if I start saving up little by little now, it could be done. Maybe I’m just being naive and I’m talking out of my ass, who knows.

You are going to have to make $1500 a month to live on your own anymore in this city, and then plan to spend more than half of that on rent alone.
A single man can live on $30 a week in groceries, trust me. Cable is another hundred bucks, plus any other bills you got.
I’m sure you aren’t going to want to share a 1 bedroom apartment with Ecuadorian migrant workers from Corona, so look to pay $750 to $1000 for rent.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I’ve been on my own for 6 months now, and I love it!

[...] plan that warrants some consideration Back in July I made a post about how I’d like to move out and have my own place (or live with a roommate or two) by the end of 2009. Seeing how it’s 2009 already, I think it’s time I begin taking this plan seriously. [...]
